What is INCIRCLE?
The INCIRCLE project supports insular and scarcely inhabited MED areas to meet the increasing environmental challenges caused by tourist activities, promoting the concrete application of circular economy (CE) principles in the tourism sector, while enhancing community prosperity and quality of life.
What it does?
Durable and easily adaptable outputs are envisaged to provide MED decision makers with concrete tools and testing opportunities to improve their capacity in terms of assessing and planning sustainability in territories where resources are already scarce, attentively exploring the following main areas of interest: energy efficiency and RES, sustainable mobility, waste and water management.
What is the INCIRCLE Knowledge platform?
The project builds on the knowledge and results of previous projects and initiatives. It re-uses the great potential of already existing solutions adapting them to the context and the specific needs of islands and low-density areas. In such a perspective, a sharing platform is created aimed at gathering and exchanging already available CE solutions and knowledge – acknowledged as best practices - able to support the development of CE policies and practices in the tourism sector.
What is an INCIRCLE best practice?
An INCIRCLE best practice might be a policy instrument, a concrete solution or measure, a specific tool or methodology that pursue the final goal of reshaping the tourism sector according to sound sustainability and circularity paradigms, calling for a change in the otherwise resource-consuming tourism industry.
